Hi, my name is Sarah Douthat, and I am a junior at West Greene High School. I am currently serving as your 2016-2017 FFA Vice President. I serve alongside Courtney Jessie and Glenn Robinette. As Vice President, I am stationed by the plow. "The plow is the symbol of labor and tillage of  the soil. Without labor neither knowledge nor wisdom can accomplish much. My duties require me to assist at all times in directing the work of our organization. I preside over meetings in the absence of our president who's place is beneath the rising son."

As an FFA member, I am required to have a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). The scope of my SAE is raising Holstein and American Lineback bull calves on the bottle to sell later on for beef. At the moment, I have six Holstein calves and two Linebackers. Also, I have recently begun raising chickens and selling eggs to the local community as an expanded part of my SAE. I am personally responsible for these animals and cover all the expenses myself.

During my free time, I enjoy reading, riding horses, going to the lake, and spending time with my friends. In the future, I plan to graduate from West Greene and go to college for my Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. My goal is to become a large animal veterinarian and eventually start my own practice.

I wanted to become an officer because I truly love FFA and everything it stands for. The FFA has impacted my life in more ways than one, and I feel as though it is my responsibility to give back to the organization that has given me so much. I want to help clear the way for others who want to further the world's knowledge of agriculture and FFA. I strive to better my skills that I possess as well as obtain new skills that I can use in the future to make me a stronger leader. I want to be an effective member of this officer team and make a difference in this association. FFA has changed me, and I know that I can help it change others and transform their lives to all they can be. I’m so excited to be a part of your 2016-2017 officer team!
